We are more than a week into January and does anyone else feel like they still don’t quite know what day it is?! 🙋🏼♀️🤪🙃
Even though it’s been cold here in Franklin, we have luckily had a TON of sunshine along with it. So even though I’m not a fan of cold weather 🥶 I’m still trying to get at least a few minutes of sunshine each day and make sure my one year old gets outside in the sun too! ☀️
There have been tons of studies that show even 10-30 min a day, on as much bare skin as possible—yes, that part is a little harder in the winter ⛄️❄️—will get you your natural daily dose of Vitamin D that we all so desperately need to maintain wellness! It is scientifically proven to help improve your mood and your focus by boosting the serotonin levels in your body, as well! (Serotonin is known as the ‘happiness hormone’) 😀🥰
It’s all so important this time of year especially because studies also show that sunlight decreases the risk of depression (seasonal affective disorder—aka SAD—is a VERY REAL THING!) So in the winter months specifically, in addition to upping Vitamin D supplements for our family, (and another cool option I’ll be talking about coming up!) we try to be mindful to take in the sun when it’s shining!
